Volunteer

Our Scout Group is very active and has approximately 50 young members aged from 6 to 14 who enjoy weekly meetings, activities and camps.

We also support an Explorer Scout Unit of 14 to 18 year olds.

None of this would be possible without help and support from adults.

It’s a great time to help out with our group, as we have an experienced team and are able to provide great support to new volunteers.

Help is needed regularly in three key areas:

  • Programme Delivery, which is what is often considered to be “traditional Scouting” and includes leaders and supporters to plan and run the weekly meetings and other activities
  • Support, which includes things that are not normally in direct contact with our young people, such as Fundraising and Building Maintenance.
  • Governance. Our Trustees oversee our finances and administration, make sure all our running costs are covered and we meet our obligations as a Registered Charity.

For more information on the benefits of regular volunteering and what is involved, the Scouts national website has some great resources: https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteer/volunteering-with-scouts/
