Beavers

Wow what a month the beavers have had. We kicked off our learning with the Disability badge, learning that there are lots of hidden disabilities as well as physical and why it’s important not to discriminate.

We moved on to Space starting on world space day was honestly just a great coincidence. We have shot rockets around the Scout hut and made some amazing galaxy jars.

The highlight this half term was finishing our Paddlesports Stage 1 badge. All the Beavers had great fun paddling up and down the canal.

Cubs

The highlight this month was our Indoor Camp held at Earleywood Scout Campsite, near Ascot. We slept in a building but the rest of the time was spent outdoors. We started on Friday evening after the rain kindly stopped. Outside we had a game with glo-sticks before getting beds ready. The next day the activities included climbing, archery, geo-caching, trails, slackline, crafts as well as playing games and campfire singing. Sunday morning was spent packing and tidying up and a few more activities before going home.

The Cubs had a visit to St Nicolas Church in Newbury where they explored the Bell Tower. They went right up to the roof, then to look at the bells, then they had a go at hand bell ringing which was not as easy as it looks. Finally they were all allowed to have a go at ringing the Church Bells

Scouts

We have had very busy month – learning how to read a map, making and playing Mancala with egg boxes & dried peas, making African masks, making poppies for our Remembrance Sunday wreath and Scuba diving.
